School of Automobiles and Transportation
The School has Vehicle Engineering discipline, a class 2 discipline in Mechanical Engineering of class 1 discipline. It has right to confer master degree and has an automobile noise vibration and safety engineering technology research center of Liaoning Province. There are 11 master supervisors, 7 teachers with a doctorate and more than 60 graduate students.
Vehicle Engineering discipline was the predecessor of the automobile and tractor discipline. It was founded in 1997, and began to recruit graduate students in the same year. In 1999, the Ministry of Education regulated specialty catalogues and it was incorporated into Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation. In 2002, the state separated Automobile Specialty entitled Vehicle Engineering. In 2004, the college set up Vehicle Engineering discipline for undergraduates through the approval procedure. In the past decade, it has affiliated to secondary discipline of Mechanical Design to recruit postgraduate in Automobiles, all of whom have graduated successfully. With the rapid development of auto industry in almost 20 years in China, there has been a great talent gap giving graduates great employment orientations. In recent years, it has been emphasizing discipline construction. In 2005, it was entitled to confer a master degree in secondary discipline of Vehicle Engineering. Currently, it recruits postgraduates in Vehicle Engineering. The school owns rich teaching power and builds an automobile testing center with excellent researching conditions. The main research directions are as follows.
1. Vehicle System Dynamics and Control
Main research contents include: vehicle multi-body system dynamics and its application, vehicle system dynamics and simulation, vehicle vibration and noise analysis and control technology, vehicle performance test and simulation, vehicle structure modal analysis and modal testing technology, vehicle structure strength and fatigue damage theory and experimental analysis, etc.
2. Modern Vehicle Design and Manufacturing Technology
Main research contents include: advanced vehicle design (digital design, concurrent design) and simulation (digital simulation and hardware in the loop simulation), virtual prototype technology and its application in product development, the dynamic performance analysis and dynamic simulation method, vehicle active safety control theory and method, the dynamic optimization design of vehicle components and systems theory and method, vehicle spare parts and the reliability of the system theory and technology ,advanced manufacturing technology on vehicle parts, etc.
3. Vehicle Structure Analysis and Security
Main research contents include: modern design method research, analysis and optimization research in vehicle body structure, the body structure - CAD/CAE/CAM integration technology, structural strength and stiffness analysis of auto body, body vibration analysis and control, body lightweight structure research, automobile structure in CAE analysis and automotive passive safety analysis, etc.
4. Armored Vehicle Design, Performance Testing and Manufacture Technology
Main research contents include: armored vehicle system dynamics and simulation, armored vehicle vibration and noise analysis and control technology, modern design theory and technology of armored vehicles, armored vehicle performance test and simulation, armored vehicle performance testing device, advanced manufacturing technology of armored vehicles, armored vehicle parts manufacturing technology, etc.
In recent years, the school has undertaken and completed 2 projects of National Natural Science Foundation, a national "863" plan project, 2 projects of National Ministry of Science and Technology, 29 provincial projects from General Armaments Department, Weapon Industry Group Corporation and Weapon Equipment Group co., LTD., and has completed more than 40 projects of the enterprise horizontal subjects.
This major is to cultivate multi-talent graduates with all-round development of morality, intelligence, and physique , who have a solid basic knowledge of mathematics, mechanics, management, computer science, foreign language, the necessary humanities and social science and economic management, and knowledge of electromechanical, systems engineering and engineering technology. The graduates will master the basic theory, knowledge and skills of vehicles operation and security technology, transportation system planning, passenger and cargo transport organization and scheduling. The graduates can be engaged in vehicle technology use and management, transportation planning and design, transportation organization, management and scheduling, etc. in the field of transportation, and can work on relevant teaching and scientific research. Students in this major mainly study basic theory and knowledge of transportation engineering, mechanical and electronic engineering, control science and engineering, management science, engineering and other disciplines, and accept basic training in vehicle technology application and management, transport network and hub planning and design, passenger and freight transport and management. They will master the systematic knowledge of vehicle use and security technology, transportation system planning, passenger and freight transport organization scheduling system, and be able to use knowledge to solve the problems of the engineering practice. Shenyang Ligong University has trained more than 400 graduates since the open of transportation professional in 2003, and the main employment directions are automobile transportation enterprises, automobile transportation management departments, sales companies of automobile industry enterprises, universities and colleges, automotive media, multi-functional service hall 4S shops established by automobile sales companies all over the country, etc. The graduates are well received by the majority of employers.
Automotive Maintenance and Repair Engineering
This course will provide the basis for the reasonable use, the scientific test, and the correct design of automobile, and the improvement of the reliability of automobile use by studying the relationship between the reliability and structure design, the relationship between the manufacturing process and the using conditions of automobile, and by analyzing the mechanism and influence factors of the failure modes. It will help students understand the systems, methods and conditions of domestic maintenance industry. This course will lay important foundations for the subsequent courses study the related curriculum design, graduation design and so on.
Intelligent Transportation System/p>
This course is a compulsory course for the students majoring in transportation, and the course is based on the research contents, development status and some theoretical models of the current domestic and foreign intelligent transportation fields. The main contents of the course include traffic flow guidance system, the advanced traveler information system, intelligent public transportation system, electronic toll collection, highway traffic incident management system, intelligent logistics system, intelligent vehicle system, etc. This course will lay important foundations for the subsequent courses study the related curriculum design, graduation design and so on.
Management Practice of Automobile Enterprises and Marketing Channel
This course is a compulsory course for the students majoring in transportation, and the course lectures about business processes, key points of service and scientific management methods of car vehicle sales, spare parts supply management, service management and information feedback management of the automobile 4S shops, which enables students to grasp the theoretical knowledge of the 4S shops. This course will lay important foundations for the subsequent courses study the related curriculum design, graduation design and so on.
Traffic safety and Regulations
This course is a compulsory course for the students majoring in transportation. This course introduces the basic content, basic principle and necessity of the traffic safety laws and regulations, as well as the related explanation and case analysis. It makes the students understand and grasp the meaning of traffic safety regulations. This course will lay important foundations for the subsequent courses study the related curriculum design, graduation design and so on.
Automobile Maintenance and Inspection
According to the syllabus requirements of Auto Repair and Auto Detection and Diagnosis in experiment, Automobile Maintenance and Inspection is an important professional course to transportation major, which consists of the dismantling of the tire and the repair, the use of dynamic balancing machine, automatic transmission road test, engine seal diagnosis, chassis test, headlamps detection and adjustment, gasoline engine exhaust emission test and auto nozzle cleaning test. It’s widely used in the vehicle inspection and maintenance. It is not only to consolidate the classroom knowledge to deepen the understanding of the automotive maintenance and testing, but also improve the students' practical ability, and strengthen students' employment competitiveness through the experiment project.
Automobile Application Engineering
Automobile Application Engineering is one of the main courses for students majoring in Transportation. It employs scientific methods to solve problems in the application for motor vehicles in an efficient way and covers basic concepts of the management for technical status of automobiles. The purpose of this course is to give students a practical and theoretical knowledge of how to choose, design, refit, test and use automobiles in their future practice.
Operational Research is one of the main courses for the students majoring in transportation. It employs mathematical and computational methods to study, to analyze and to solve various optimization problems. It is a professional basic course combining theory and practice, and is the basic for the subsequent courses such as Automobile Transportation, logistics Engineering, Technological Economics on Transportation, Traffic Engineering, Electronic Commerce and Logistics, Intelligent Transportation System and so on.
Automobile Detection and Diagnosis Technology
Automobile Detection and diagnosis Technology is a course for the automobile traffic and transport major. The course covers the basic concepts, methods and theories of the automobile examination and diagnoses, diagnostic methods and theories of the typical faults, and the knowledge of equipment examination. Through this course, students will master how to examine technique state of the automobile and how to diagnose the faults of the automobile.
Motor Transport Studies
Motor Transport Studies introduces the research objects, contents, principles and methods of motor transport. Through this course, students will learn to master the basic principles of motor transport, the optimization methods of road freight transport and road passenger transport, and obtain the ability of effectively organizing transport vehicles to work.
Transportation Technical Economics
Transportation Technical Economics is a very important specialized course. On the basis of analyzing basic concept, research objects, characteristic and research contents of transportation technical economics, it has studied the basic principle and the appraisal methods of technical economics, the uncertainty analysis and feasibility of investment project, economic evaluation theory, value engineering, the decision analysis of equipment renews and so on.
Introduction to the major of Energy & Power Engineering
The major of Energy and Power Engineering of Shenyang Ligong University was founded in 2006 and attached to the College of Automobile and Transportation. There are 279 students certified at present and 301graduates and the 6th year graduates have finished their study. The employment rate is 98% on average, which is located in forefront in all colleges. Most of the graduates work for Huachen Research Institute, some automobile companies such as Changcheng, Huachen BWM, Chang’an, Qirui, Jili, Yutong and some companies for vehicle components and parts such as Chaocai Energy, Shangcai Company, Jicai Energy, Dalian Yite Technology. Most of the graduates are now in the domain of power engineering majoring in researching, designing, manufacturing, testing and management works and they gain good appraise and welcome from the companies. The average postgraduate entrance examination rate is 12.8% in the late 6 years and the main places are Jilin University, Hunan University, Tianjin University, Wuhan Ligong University, Chongqing University and etc.
The major of Energy and Power Engineering of Shenyang Ligong University is characterized by training the students for applying large engineering software to developing the ability in the products in internal-combustion engine and implement the designing-based, practice ability-centered talent training mode. The students are educated for mastering basic theoretical knowledge and skills of both Power and Mechanical Engineering and the Internal Combustion Engine and for becoming talents in the domain of automobile engine for researching, designing, manufacturing, testing and performing management works. In the course of talent training, more attention is paid to the cultivation of students’ comprehensive quality and practical ability and the organic combination of basic theory, professional knowledge and operational skills. It aims at developing the students’ creative ability and the spirit of self-improvement and provides qualified personnel for the country and enterprises.
The major of Energy and Power Engineering of Shenyang Ligong University has a group of teachers with rigorous scholarship, rich experience, strong practical ability and reasonable academic structure. There are 6 teachers with the major. Among them, there is one professor, two associate professors, three lecturers. A rate of 57% of the current teachers have related working experience of the internal combustion engine in the enterprises, 33% of the teachers have a doctorate and 33% are studying for a doctorate and they undertake several numbers of school cooperation projects with enterprises. There are three research directions, i.e., Modern design theory and method of internal combustion engine, Calibration and matching of internal combustion engine, and Theory and method of heat transfer. The College is equipped with an auto testing center, the Liaoning Province automobile noise vibration and safety Engineering Technology Research Center, Cross professional comprehensive experimental training platform for automobile production and service, Internal combustion engine performance laboratory, Thermal engineering laboratory, Automotive performance and structure laboratory, Automotive electronics laboratory and etc. We have developed a comprehensive experimental platform of flexible control for internal combustion engine, the comprehensive experimental platform of thermal test, the monitoring platform for working process of internal combustion engine. These equipments have the total area of more than 4000 square meters and lay a solid foundation for the cultivation of undergraduates with strong engineering practical ability.

The engineering Thermodynamics is a science of professional foundation course on the principle of thermal energy converted to other energies for thermal energy & power engineering. The course not only provides fundamental theoretical knowledge for the students to learn related professional courses of internal combustion engine but also introduces important theoretical basis for relevant professional technical and scientific research work.
Engineering Fluid Mechanics is an important fundamental professional course for the specialty of thermal energy and power engineering. It is a necessary theoretical basis for the following professional courses and the professional research and production work for students. Through this course, students can master the basic concepts and basic principles and calculation methods of fluid motion and can analyze and solve practical problems, which will lay a foundation in professional and technical work and research through using the necessary basis of fluid mechanics in the future.
Heat Transfer is an important fundamental professional course for the major of thermal energy and power engineering; is an engineering discipline to study the law of heat transfer and its application. Through this course, students should acquire the basic theory of heat transfer in an extensive sense, be equipped with the basic ability to analyze and calculate heat transfer problems in engineering. This course can not only provide basic theoretical knowledge for the follow-up professional courses, but also lay a foundation for future technical work and scientific research in related fields.
Combustion Theory is an important fundamental professional course for the major of thermal energy and power engineering. This course enables students to understand the nature of combustion phenomena, the principle, characteristics and law in the combustion process of gas, liquid and gas fuel in the power mechanical engineering. The main contents of the course include the what-and-how of combustion, the introduction of fuels, the calculation of Engineering combustion, the basis of combustion theory, the combustion of gas, liquid and solid fuels, the pollution control and safety technology in combustion.
Control Engineering Foundation And Signal Processing includes the basic knowledge, basic principle and basic methods of the learning the discipline of control engineering theory and signal processing; and analysis of simple control system, which includes the analysis of the control system, mathematical description, time and frequency domain analysis, conditioning and processing methods of common sensors and signals etc. It is important for students to further study the professional knowledge and cultivate the professional quality.
Automobile Structure systematically introduces the basic structure and principle of a modern automobile including the overall structure of the automobile; the working principle and the structure of the automotive engine; the structure and working principle of the major component systems of the automobile engine; the basic structure and working principle of the chassis transmission system, driving system, steering system and braking system in an automobile, and lays a solid foundation for all of the follow-up professional courses.
Principle Of Internal Combustion Engine describes the basic theory and control methods of the wording process of internal combustion engine, especially the modern electronic-controlled technology in the internal combustion engine; focuses on the basic principle of the heat-work conversion of the internal combustion engine, the characteristic analysis methods, the performance improvements and the technical measures to improve the emissions; and cultivates students' ability to study and design the performance of the internal combustion engine and to develop the products.
Through learning of this course, Automobile Manufacturing Technology, students can master the basic knowledge of automobile products manufacturing process, mainly including the automobile product manufacturing process, the typical parts processing technology , process system concept, DFMA concept (design for manufacturing and assembly); grasp the methods to obtain the surface quality and surface accuracy of automotive parts, the principle of clamping/fixture and the ways to analyze the clamping/fixture error, the rigidity of the processing system and the error reflection rate, the basic principle of the calculation of the dimension chain and its application in the process of assembly and machining. The students can master the theoretical, engineering and systematic processing technology in automobile manufacturing process, which is very important for the students’ engineering practice ability.
Internal Combustion Engine Design is one of the major profession-oriented courses for the specialty of the thermal energy and power engineering. Through this course, students can understand the force analysis of the Crank train, the equilibrium of the internal combustion engine, the torsion vibration of crankshaft system, and master the structure, material selection mechanical condition and common faults of the parts in the internal combustion engine, such as the piston, connecting rod, crankshaft, cylinder head, cylinder liners, valve train and so on. The course enables the students to understand the design approach of the internal combustion engine, in order to lay a solid foundation for the properly designing of a reasonable internal combustion engine in the future work.
Measurement Techniques in Thermal Energy and Power Engineering is a professional course for the specialty of thermal energy and power engineering. The course aims at equipping the students with the fundamental measurement theories, familiarizing the students with the basic measurement methods and measurement systems, the selection standard of measurement apparatus, the measurement of the dynamic and static feature, tolerance analysis and data processing of the testing results, and the measurement methods of the basic parameters of the ICE (internal combustion engine). Through the course, the students can have an overall idea of the dynamic mechanical test techniques, and the initial ability to conduct the ICE experiments.
