School of Automobiles and Transportation

General Information

The Department of Automatic Control had existed prior to the establishment of the School of Automobiles and Transportation, which had developed into the Department of Computer and Automatic Control in 1987. In 2000, for the need of disciplinary development and rational allocation of resources, the two departments were combined into Branch of Information Science and Engineering, which was officially renamed as School of Information Science and Engineering of Shenyang Ligong University in May, 2004, which is abbreviated as Information school. In May, 2015 for disciplinary development, the School is divided again into two separate schools: the Automation and Electrical Engineering Department and the Information Science and Engineering Department.

The school covers four undergraduate majors: automation, measurement and control technology and instruments, electronic science and technology, electrical engineering and automation; one first level graduate specialty covering control science and engineering, and five second level gradate programs: control theory and control engineering, testing and automation devices, pattern recognition and intelligent systems, systems engineering, navigation guidance and control, and 1 engineering master programs of control engineering. Besides, the school has a Chinese-Russian scientific and technological cooperation base, complete set of control equipment, collaborative innovation base in Liaoning Province, 2 provincial engineering centers and 1 provincial key laboratory of intelligent and networked measurement and control technology .

The school now has 1735 students, among whom undergraduates are 1561, and 174 students are full-time academic graduates, professional degree graduates and engineering graduates. The school attaches great importance to overall cultivation of students’ knowledge, practical abilities, innovative spirit and comprehensive abilities. In style of study construction, many students won the national and provincial honors; what’s more, many students won over 100 national and provincial awards successively in ‘Challenge Cup Science and Technology Competition for College Students’, ‘National Smart Cars Competition for College Students’, ‘Electronic Design Competition’, ‘Mathematical Modeling Contest’ and ‘Program Design Competition’.

The school now has a faculty of 84 people. Among the 75full-time teachers, there are 13 professors, 26 associate professors and 7 senior engineers; 18 people with doctor degree and 44 people with master degree, and 48 master advisors. A optimal structured team composing of young and middle-aged teachers has been formed, which consists of one provincial famous teacher; three ‘ younger key employees of the school’; one ‘excellent expert’ of Shenyang; two of ‘one thousand level talent’ in the New Century Talents Project, one ‘outstanding young scholars’ in the university; ant the same time many teachers have got the ‘Excellent Teachers’ in Liaoning Province and the ‘Excellent Teachers’ in Shenyang, ‘Three Education Advanced Individual’, ‘Excellent Science Workers’ and other honors. Meanwhile, the school has a provincial teaching team of ‘Core Courses of Measurement and Control’ and provincial scientific research innovation team of ‘Intelligent Detection and Network Measurement’.

In order to improve the teaching level, the school conducts specialty construction and teaching reform with full efforts. In recently years, the school has not only compiled and published many excellent textbooks such as ‘Networked Measurement and Control System Technology and Application’ and ‘Electrician and Electronic Technology Practice’, but it also has been granted 4 experiment centers and won 3 prizes of teaching achievements at provincial level and above. The three centers include the National college students’ off-campus practice educational base, instrumentation engineering practice educational center base on Dandong, electrician and electronics provincial experimental teaching demonstration center, and provincial comprehensive reform pilot of measurement and control technology and instrument.

The school actively conducts scientific researches. In recent years, the school has undertaken and finished about 10 national scientific projects of the national natural science fund, the national defense pre-research and so on. About 20 provincial scientific projects of the general assembly fund, the provincial department of science and technology, education department and about 60 municipal and enterprises cooperation projects. The school has got two items of the third prize in scientific and technological progress in Liaoning Province, and about 10 provincial prizes in weapon industry progress prize in science and technology, military progress prize in science and technology, and about 40 application and invention patents, utility model patents and copyright of software.

Automation

2. Training objective and employment direction

The object of the specialty is to cultivate high level talents with strong engineering application ability for the full development of morality, intelligence and physique who possess a solid knowledge of control theory, and have professional basic skills and engineering technology foundation of Circuit, electronic technology, control theory, automatic detection and instrumentation, information processing, computer technology. Students can work on system analysis, system design, system operation and maintenance, corresponding technology development and scientific research in motion control, process control, automation instrumentation, computer control technology and other fields. The Graduate will take up the work about automation system integration, development of control products, management, marketing, scientific research and teaching of Automation field in the relevant enterprises, scientific research institutions, institutions of higher learning.

3. Specialty characteristics

The automatic control theory is taken as the base. Technology applications of the field of process control and motion control are course group of the key construction of automation specialty. The comprehensive usage of frequency conversion control、PLC and field bus control technology is training features of professional competence. The training of the core application ability of automation major is highlighted.

Electrical Engineering and Automation

2. Training objective and employment direction

The purpose of this program is to cultivate the excellent students with spirit of innovation and practical abilities in power generation, transmission, transformation, regulation and operation of the Power System, and to help them develop morally, mentally and physically. Moreover, after graduate, the students can be engaged in engineering design, research and development, system operation and other aspects in Power System.

3. Specialty characteristics

The Specialty Features of this program are combination of strong electricity and weak electricity, combination of electrical technology and electronic technology, combination of software and hardware, and combination of components and systems. However, this program can cultivate the students to master basic theory in electrical, electronic, information, control and computer, and to have the ability to solve the problems in the field of Power System.

Electronic science and technology

2. Training objective and employment direction

Students are required to master the basic principles of integrated circuits and integrated system, to master industry CAD software, to study design method, test technology, manufacturing process and IC application method, to obtain the newest development achievement and the latest technology in the field of Integrated circuit and integrated system, to possess good scientific and engineering literacy and obtain self-learning, analyzing and solving problems ability, and application ability of foreign languages. The undergraduates would be engaged in scientific research on Integrated circuits and integrated system, work on IC designing, testing, manufacturing and IC application development.

3. Specialty characteristics

Students' ability of back-end design and the large scale integrated circuit are developed by the industry mainstream tools. According to the demand of the front and back-end in the field of integrated circuit design, the ability IC back-end design is developed. Including the ability of layout and routing, layout, physical verification, design for manufacturing, testing and other aspects of the training, and the corresponding theory and technology knowledge system is constructed.

Measurement Control Technology and Instruments Specialty

The students master the various ability systematically, including the ability of extracting physical quantities, measuring techniques and the processing technology of signal analysis, the students specialize in the design of multi-functional intelligent instrument technology and network industrial measurement and control system technology, which make students have a strong sense of innovation and the ability of engineering practice.
